FAQ

Is GenPy free?

Use Free for evaluation, learning, small demos, and basic exports. The account center is the source of truth for live prices, checkout availability, included quotas, and regional purchase options.

What does paid access add?

Paid access adds more storage, AI budget, export capacity, preview time, collaboration, version history, or plugin access depending on the product available in your region.

What login methods are available?

Use the method shown on the sign-in page; providers can vary by deployment and region.

Is my data safe?

Cloud projects use managed online storage. Desktop projects stay on your machine unless you import or sync them.

How large can projects be?

Upload limits apply to imported archives. Large media assets usually determine project size more than script count.

Can multiple people collaborate?

Yes, when your account entitlement supports teams. Common roles include owner, editor, and viewer.

Which files are the project source of truth?

Native .rpy/.rpym files and project assets define the game. .genpy stores project settings, editor metadata, and migration records; it is not a hidden gameplay source for new projects.

What happens to older GenPy-native projects?

Opening an older project never migrates it automatically. On an eligible project and runtime, expand Project format in project settings to start a managed backup, structural validation, and atomic source cutover. A blocked migration leaves the legacy project and its sidecars unchanged.

Can exported projects run in Ren'Py?

Yes. GenPy exports a standard project structure for local Ren'Py testing and release preparation.

Where should beginners start?

Start from workspace home, write a small scene, validate, preview, then export only after the project is clean.
